Stir of Echoes: A Hurricane Blonde Lyric

This is a lyric I wrote for an upcoming Hurricane Blonde song. It was inspired by someone very close to me. Someone who used to feel trapped, but was always comforted and grounded by the music she surrounded herself with.

He calls her a whore as she dances alone
She clutches her sandals and finds a way home
3am every night…

Spoon-fed smiles and hesitant denials
She clutches a memory and then lets it die
Sinking to the ground, she feels lost and never found
Freedom is unknown, and all that’s left is hope…

Sometimes we’re banished and bruised and broken
But we haunt the hate and hover like a cancer
Skirting disaster but extracting no answers
Somewhere between the gravestone and the sky…

Tomorrow you wake up, cold concrete and missing memories
With the faint taste of my tongue your only defense
Let the burdens you carry, carry you back to me
Because only the music makes any sense
